Greetings everyone and a very Happy New Year to you all. As the Holiday Season draws to a close and our institutions re-open for the Spring Semester we return to the business of the MSA Annual Congress at the University of Salamanca May 26-29, 2010. Rick Clement and the Program Committee are in the process of organizing an exciting program for the Congress. There are however, several business items to bring to your attention.

Hotels
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Keep in mind that concurrently there will be a major medical conference in Salamanca during the MSA Congress. That has created a problem finding hotel rooms, particularly at upper end hotels. For those desiring upscale lodging check with individual hotels at the end of March, which would be when the Medical Conference could release any unreserved rooms. For those looking for less elegant and less expensive rooms they can be found in 2 and 3 star hotels. Again, we advise you NOT to procrastinate in making your hotel reservations. Keep in mind that the MSA has booked 28 rooms at the Salamanca Ibis Hotel (a 15-20 minute walk to the University). As of this writing 10 of those rooms remain available.
Rooms & Prices: All rooms are the same price double or single (there is an additional $20 per night charge if a 2 bed room is used as a triple). There is also a different price for the rooms Tuesday through Thursday and a higher price on Friday and Saturday nights. Tuesday - Thursday $85.00 double or single Friday - Sunday $110 double or single. Reservations will be accepted on a first come basis until MARCH 23, 2010. At that time any un-reserved rooms will be released. Full payment will be required at time of making reservation. For five nights (Tuesday-Sunday = $475). Full refund will be possible up to 30 days before arrival date and 50% refund 15-29 days before arrival date minus a $25 administration fee. One person will be responsible for payment when booking double rooms. We cannot collect a portion from each person sharing a room. Hotel registration forms are on the MSA website: www.mediterraneanstudies.org  If you have additional questions about booking rooms please contact Ben Taggie
Early Registration ends February 1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Registration for MSA members increases from $180 to $250 after February 1. Any registration received after 12:00 pm (EST) February 1 will be assessed the $250 registration. All conference participants who are giving papers or chairing sessions must pre-register. THE PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 15, 2010. One form is to be filled out for each person. Before February 1 the member registration fee is $180, and $50 for a spouse or guest. After February 1 the member registration fee is $250, and $50 for a spouse or guest. At the Congress the member registration fee is $350, and $50 for a spouse or guest. The $50 fee is for a companion who will not be attending the sessions but who will be attending the evening social events and/or a tour (for which tickets are required). These guests will receive a name badge. They will receive tickets (if applicable) in their companion's full registration packet. REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. (US currency only.)
