We will have a unique three-hour combination walking/boat tour this year. The 90 minute walking tour will focus on the great fortifications of Gibraltar. The most substantial development of Gibraltar's fortifications took place during the British occupation from 1704 to the present. At the peak building period in 1865, the fortifications housed 681 guns mounted in 110 batteries and positions, guarding all land and sea approaches to Gibraltar.
The most extensive fortifications are in the area where Gibraltar was under the greatest threat, at the north end of the peninsula facing the isthmus with Spain that followed the course of the 11th century Moorish defensive boundaries. Another group of fortifications, the West Front, guards the town and the harbor and will be visited on the walking tour.

BOAT TOUR
Following the walking portion of the tour, you will board a Dolphin Adventures Line cruise boat for a 90-minute cruise around the Rock. Please note that there is an increase in the cost of the tour this year because of the expense of the charter boat. Also please note that, unlike past years, we must limit the tour to 28 participants because of the boat capacity. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
