Mediterranean Studies Association 2021 Conference Update

Dear MSA Colleagues,

I hope this Newsletter finds you safely avoiding the pandemic, and in the queue for your vaccination. In the U.S., after months being the world leader in both Covid infections (over 25 million) and deaths (over 400,000), we are encouraged that our new President will lead us in defeating the devastating pandemic. Hopefully, we will be able to emulate Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain in quickly getting our population vaccinated. Optimistically with the existing Pfizer and Moderna, and other vaccines to come, we will see the pandemic under control in time for the 23rd Annual Congress in Gibraltar.

23rd ANNUAL CONGRESS UNIVERSITY OF GIBRALTAR MAY 26-29

Because of the pandemic we are organizing a hybrid congress for Gibraltar. We will have the traditional on-site Congress for those who are able to attend.  For those who are unable to participate in person, you will be able to participate and present your paper virtually online. You will have until May 1 to decide if your presentation will be in person or virtual

With the help of Geoffrey DeVito who will coordinate the on-line component and the technical savvy and capabilities of our Gibraltar colleagues we anticipate a state-of-the-art hybrid congress. Anyone needing an updated acceptance letter should email info@mediterraneanstudies.org

CONGRESS REGISTRATION

In pass years February 1 has been the cut off dates for Early Congress Registration. However, because of the uncertainty engendered by the pandemic we extend the Early Registration Period to April 1. After April 1, the Regular Registration Fee will be applied.

CARRY-OVER REGISTRATION FROM 2020

Registrations from the 2020 Congress will automatically be applied to the 2021 Congress, you will only need to pay your 2021 Memberships.

2020 REGISTRATION REFUNDS

The long-standing policy of the MSA had been to never refund Congress Registrations. However, because of the pandemic, we made an exception for the 2020 Congress. Non-refundable financial commitments have now been made for 2021 and after a year grace period the refunds option ends February 1st. Any requests after February 1st will be denied.
