The Tagus River surrounds the city of Toledo on three sides
The 2024 MSA Post Tour will focus on the region known in Medieval times as New Castile, Toledo, Chinchon and Madrid. The tour will start with a day in Toledo, the ancient capital of the Visigoths. Toledo is known as the "City of the Three Cultures" for the cultural influences of Christians, Muslims, and Jews throughout its history. Toledo is so well-preserved that the entire city has been declared a national monument. It continued to play an important role in Spanish history under Moorish Rule 711 – 1085. Its recapture by King Alfonso VI was a turning point in the Reconquista.
Among the many things to see in Toledo:
The City Walls and Gates, the Alcazar Fortress, 13th century Cathedral, Jewish Quarter with the El Greco Home and Museum and Synagogue of El Tránsito.
We will overnight inside the city walls at Carlos V Hotel.
